​Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 11th as the Evangelism and Fellowship committees host a spaghetti dinner to help one of our own, Jocelyn W., attend a mission/service trip to Alaska through her college (Westminster). She will be travelling to Alaska in May for a 2-week trip. Besides spending time exploring Alaska (Anchorage, Seward, and the Denali National Park), the group will be doing many volunteer and community service events including helping the homeless through Habitat for Humanity, volunteering at the Hope Center in Anchorage (soup kitchen serving 400+ people a day for lunch, women’s shelter, showerhouse, job training), lead worship at 2 different churches, visiting/serving at the Food Bank of Alaska whose goal is work with food industry partners to salvage food that would otherwise go to waste from grocery stores, wholesalers, producers, farmers, and the fishing industry and distribute it to those in need, visiting/serving at Beans Café – a soup kitchen and emergency cold weather shelter who also runs a children’s lunch program, meeting and interacting with Alaska’s indigenous people, and learning about renewable energy and living off the grid as well as volunteering at the Recycling center. This sounds like a myriad of opportunities to share the Gospel while helping others. Jesus said, “By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35)
